Viking Clothing
Viking Men Viking Men wore a tunic with a pair of trousers. When it was cold, cloaks were worn as an extra layer of clothing to keep them warm. Viking Women Viking Women wore ankle-length dresses of wool or linen with a pinafore over the top. The pinafore was fastened at the shoulders with large brooches. Teaching Ideas/Suggested Activities These images can be used as a stimulus for talk and discussion on the type of clothes worn by Vikings. Weaving Weaving is a method of making cloth by interlacing long threads passing in one direction with others at a right angle to them on a loom. This was the method the Viking's used to make their clothing. Teaching Ideas/Suggested Activities The children could discuss the fabric and fibre used to make Viking clothing and their properties. The teacher could use this video to show the children the technique of weaving. The children experience making their own piece of cloth through the method of weaving.
